Premonition
Made in the Peruvian Amazon from fallen palm leaves, Premonition places a temporary body within a living landscape. The work accepts weather, decay and local conditions as part of its form, asking where an artwork ends and its site begins.

ABOUT
Tomotsugu
Nakamura
My practice begins with the understanding that human beings are part of nature. I work with plants, wood, soil, stone and lime—materials shaped by time, weather, decay and renewal. Rather than treating nature as a subject to represent, I allow these materials and processes to participate in the formation of the work. Across painting, sculpture, installation and photography, I explore how matter carries memory and how human life remains continuous with other forms of existence. Drying, discoloration, erosion and decomposition are not endings, but transitions. By preserving their traces, I seek to make visible the forces that connect bodies, landscapes and time.
